The preparation for the vasectomy

After you have identified your desired urological medical practice the vasectomy surgeon/ specialist will have a consulting and informed consent discussion with you. In the conversation, the risks and consequences of the vasectomy will be pointed out to you. It is advisable to be prepared for this conversation and to ask your unclear questions outright, i.e. just be up front with your concerns.

Also, it is important that your partner also takes part in the consultation and the informed consent session when it comes to the decision either for or against the vasectomy.

Should you have any reservations concerning the vasectomy, their clarification is very important. Above all, there might be questions concerning your future sex life. your doctor will explain to you that the vasectomy concerns merely the separation of the vas deferens and will not affect or even touch upon your conduct and your sex life in whatever manner.

The production of the male hormones remains unchanged. Testosterone is produced furthermore to the same extent.

Accordingly, your present sexual behavior patterns and secondary features will continue.

The vasectomy will not even influence the quantity or the perceived kind of the ejaculated semen. In the ejaculated semen, it is merely the sperms (spermatozoids) that will be absent after the vasectomy. The sperm liquid still exists in the same quantity.

Two weeks before the surgical intervention, all drugs should be discontinued, e.g., aspirin Ibuprofen etc. Your doctor will optimally prepare you also in this regard.
